April Ross

April Ross is only one of only a handful of beach volleyball players who have earned medals at least twice in an Olympics. Alix Klineman, playing for the first time at Tokyo's Olympic Games and will attempt to win her third Olympic medal. Ross is determined to earn more than just her first Olympic medal. This may be the last chance she'll ever have at age 39. Still confident but she is not sure. Ross stated to NBC Boston that if they are at their absolute best or play a great game her team can win a gold medal. It's also going to be an issue of luck. Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in the year 1982. Her parents and sister were residents there. At Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many activities. She competed in basketball and track, in addition to her indoor volleyball exploits in her time as a college athlete. She was definitely a cut above the rest in the latter sport. According to her biography, she was an outside blocker as well as a middle hitter on the volleyball court throughout her time in high school. She was named the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the year in 1999, for her performance. Also, in 2000 she was named Orange County Athlete of the Yr for volleyball. Ross is working with Klineman from 2017 but her beach game had been established long before that. It's true that she's had numerous big wins and one of them was a renowned volleyball player. From 2007 until 2013 she played by Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Kessy and Ross were strong on the international arena, taking home a 2009 world title with each other. The 2012 Olympic Games, they received a gold medal. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor clinched gold ahead of them. Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate as Maytreanor resigned. Together, they won beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Following high school, and for a few years before she hit the sand as a pro Ross was a ball to the Trojans at USC while a collegiate. Her time at the school was a memorable one. In 2000 she was named Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman Of The Year and an All-American. The team also saw her help in helping the Trojans to make it to into the Final Four. After her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal tragedy, but earned the distinction of being an All-American. In her last two seasons in the Trojans in the program the team was led to victory by winning successive national titles. In 2003-2004, she was named as the most successful female volleyball player on the collegiate scene in the US by the Honda Sports Award. Ross was a student of international relations at USC. Unfortunately Ross mother Margie did not get to see Ross's daughter reach the very top of beach volleyball superstardom. Ross's mom Margie passed away in 2001, when Ross was a USC sophomore. The cancer was diagnosed as breast. In the aftermath, Ross remains close to her parent who died. Margie remains an inspiration both on and off of the shore.
